Professional recognition
The Department of Languages and Intercultural Studies is recognised as one of the leading university departments in the UK for training translators and interpreters and is one of only four UK members of CIUTI, the International Permanent Conference of University Institutes of Translators and Interpreters.
The Department is also a member of key organisations such as the Professional Language Use Group. The Department benefits from excellent links with professional bodies such as the Institute of Linguists, the Institute of Translation and Interpreting in the UK and the translating and interpreting services of European and international organisations such as the European Commission and the European Parliament.
